Don Dodge Bio
Living quietly under Marge’s shadow, her son Don was an accomplished photographer in his own right. Immediately after relocating to Missoula as a tween, Don discovered his greatest passion that would shape his life: the great Montana outdoors. A mere few miles from the Rattlesnake Wilderness, Don spent his teenage years exploring nearby mountains, rivers, and wilderness. Somewhere along the line, Don also discovered photography and soon married the two passions together. A founding member of Back Country Horsemen, Don spent the bulk of his adulthood leading trains of pack horses through the Bob Marshall Wilderness, Glacier National Park, and other scenic wonders that define the state. Inspired by Ansel Adamsand others, his primary piece of equipment were medium format cameras, which used to capture the natural beauty, as well as ghosts of the past in abandoned buildings, mines and ghost towns.
Alas, while Don shared Marge’s artistic skill, he also shared her shortcomings on the business side of art. Thus he took thousands of photos and made hundreds of prints in his in-home darkroom, he had few showings and no marketing. So those photos and negatives sat in storage collecting dust… until now.
Don’s nephew Chris and his wife Briana resurrected and organized those photos to present to the world. In addition to this website, all photos are available for sale, either original framed prints, unframed photos, or digital prints.
